Taking us back in time 2.5 weeks ago we had a birthday celebration for Aunt Kara and Grandma Eileen. Uncle Kevin and Aunt Shannon came up to surprise the birthday girls and meet Mackenzie. It was great they were able to come and make the LONG drive up from Charlotte. It was a very fun weekend with the Denholm's.
Two weeks ago Mackenzie and I went South to Richmond to visit so many people. We even made a trip to Dinwiddie to see the great grandparents and Farmville to meet up with Brooke and Brittany. Mackenzie was not impressed with the infant clothing at Longwood so we are still in search of some. While in Richmond Mackenzie got to meet several of my friends. She met Stacey and her baby girl Camden, Libby(w/ baby in to be) and Kim, Amanda, Whitney and Kelly. It was great seeing everyone, it had been a long time. And of coarse Mackenzie got to see cousin Mary Alex. They enjoyed spending some time together. Though I think Mackenzie was a little low key for Mary Alex. Mackenzie enjoyed spending time by G-ma and G-pa Seaborn. They seemed to have different magical touches than me when Mackenzie was upset.
Last week we took our first family vacation to Cape Cod. It was a different type of vacation for us but Mackenzie was wonderful. She is a very easy going baby, she must get that from Kyle. Kyle was able to spend his first father's day on vacation with his baby girl. He loved that and the fresh lobster for dinner. While up North we were faced with a nor'easter. Go figure! So it rained(or drizzled) all but 2 days. The weather reminded me of the great northwest when I lived there, yuck! We managed to make the most of our trip and didn't let the rain slow us down. We went to Newport, RI and toured the Breakers mansion. We really enjoyed Newport and would consider a trip back there. One day we went into Boston. Mackenzie got to take her first trip on a train and subway. It was a big day! We walked the freedom trail in the rain while Mackenzie was in her "bubble." Her stroller kept her nice and dry, she slept the entire day. She will regret not seeing the tour later in life. Kyle's friend Amber, from college, lives in Cambridge so we met up with her at Harvard. Lets just say we didn't fit in with our stroller. But it was good to see the campus. The rest of the week we drove to all the different towns in Cape Cod and walked through all the shops. We stayed in the town where the Kennedy's vacationed but we couldn't find the compound. Overall we had a great time but we realized that we are southern beach people. It really didn't feel like the beach with all the trees. The rain also probably didn't help the experience.
This weekend we had more exciting news. We found out that Mackenzie is going to have another boy cousin! We are so happy for Kelly and Scott and can't wait to meet Baby Emerick in November or December.
Mackenzie just keeps growing everyday. Kyle and I are filled with so much joy. Mackenzie always has a big smile on her face(except for the camera) and we love to squeeze her chubs. On Father's Day Mackenzie laughed for the first time, it is hard to get her to do it again. She is discovering her hands more and more each day. Mostly by sucking on them. She loves spending time in her bouncer. In fact I think her heals are going to be bruised from kicking her legs so hard on the bottom. The last big event was the move from the bassinet to the crib this weekend. She has been doing great. I think it was more difficult for me, actually I know it was. But I think she is enjoying the more space to move herself to the bottom of the crib.
